About the product
Currently the weather is right to let the Chalcididae into the garden!
Trichogramms or chalcididaes’ are very small insects that are difficult to see with the naked eye, belonging to the order of Hymenoptera. The trichogramma preparation contains Trichogramma embryophagum Hartig. These little insects attack and destroy the eggs of various garden pests. Trichogramms have been used in Latvia for more than 50 years. They combat most of the pests that lay their eggs on plants. The most active and effective trichogramms are when they are released during the time when the night temperature is above + 10 Celsisu. After hatching from the eggs, the trichogramms spreads within a radius of 20-30 m from the release site, depending on the weather.
Purchased trichogramms should first be kept in a room that is in a bright, warm (but not hot) place. After a few days, the shell will start to hatch and you will see them crawling along the walls of the container. It is best to release trichogramms in the garden during warm, dry weather, without strong winds. Trichogramms can also be placed in the garden in cold and humid weather, as long as it does not start to rain within an hour of release, the trichogramms will be able to find a hiding place and get accustom with the garden. It is most convenient that before releasing the trichogramms, that they are transferred to a small jar that contains small twigs or pieces of leaves before they hatch. When the trichograms begin to hatch, they will begin to crawl through these branches and leaves. Then, when walking around the garden, leave these branches or leaves with trichogramms in the places where the highest trichogramm activity is desired. The dish with trichogramms can also be easily placed in any place in the garden where no water enters the dish, so that the trichogramms can spread by themselves. However, it should be noted that the distribution of trichogramms in the garden may be uneven. It should be remembered that trichogramms fight pest eggs, so they must be released for the first time before the first larval lesions appear.
Trichogramms that have not yet hatched in the greenhouse can be placed in a place where water does not enter their jar. They will hatch on their own and start working. They should be released again after 3-4 weeks, starting from the moment when the first flowers appear on the plants and the temperature at night is above + 5c.
In the garden, when the trichogramms have already been released, it is desirable to release them again after 6-7 days, then every 4 weeks. Trichogramms do not like the cold, so the first generation of pests that appear in May can be most effectively controlled by releasing the trichogramms in early August of the previous year, when the pests lay eggs and are about to go to hibernation.
Important! At home, it is not recommended to store trichogramms in the refrigerator for more than a week. It should be noted that trichogramms do not like pungent odors, so storing onions, for example, in the refrigerator can be harmful to trichogramms. Trichogramms are very small, they are shorter than 1mm. Therefore, it is not always easy to tell if the trichogramms have already hatched, often these insects resemble simple, small, black dots. If you hold the dish with eggs on a white sheet of paper, it will be much easier to see when the "black moving dots" begin to appear in the dish and the trichogramms have hatched. Like all living things, trichogramms need to breathe. Therefore, if after the purchase of trichogramm eggs are transferred to another container, it should be remembered that this container should not be completely closed, it is best to cover it tightly with a simple cotton cloth, which is firmly fastened with rubber or string. The preparation is a plant protection product.
The trichogramm overwinters in their adult larval phase in the eggs of various pests. Trichogramms are egg parasite insects that lay their eggs in the eggs of other insects. Adult insects feed on nectar. The trichogramm overwinters in their adult larval phase in the eggs of various pests. They are able to move 15-20 m. Trichogramms are usually omitted during the departure of pests, when there is a massive laying of eggs by insects. It is desirable to omit them 2-3x in fruit trees in season, in other crops 1x in season. Usage of trichogramm: 50,000 trichogramms per 1ha, or 1 g of preparation, preferably 0.5 g trichogramm per 1 ha in fields. The development cycle is 10-11 days. Trichogramms have no toxins. Fights pine tincturewell. When purchasing the product, it should be stored in a refrigerator at a temperature of 4-6 degrees. The maximum storage time is 2 to 3 weeks.
Trichograms should be skipped for the first time 4-5 days after the departure of the codling moth, again after 7-10 days.
